Brick Opening Sequence

The Title is White on a black background this shows the contrast of colours and could also represent the contrast between the girl and the boy in the opening of the film. This gets the audience thinking why have the black on white and a girl and a boy with the opening image of a tunnel heading to darkness and a small stream parting the girl who is murdered and the boy on the other side looking in deverstation and thinking on what to do. This gets the veiwers thinking on what has happened and why are they there in daylight should they not be there at night?.. When it skips back onto to days previous this helps the audience to understand on what is going on and how it starts to flow into a thriller as it captures the audience into thinking what the film is about and how did she end up in the tunnel after 2 days wearing the same clothes.
There is a long shot when he is in the pay phone and then the shot changes to show his facial expression to show his anxiousness as he is talking on the phone and the black car drives past and throughs out a "fag" with a arrow on it pointing to another pay phone this convices the audience something else is about to happen. Match on action is used here to show were he is looking and how he is feeling. the style of the film comes across at a normal thriller and gets and puts the veiwers on edge to make then feel involved in the film.
