What Titles - Fargo

Analysis of Fargo.
To understand the roles and title sequences ina opening sequence, Fargo was directed by Cohen Brothers. In opening credits it tells you who is involved in the film and how is directed,casted,sound,make-up, and location, these are all important in the opening of the sequence as it tells you what actors/actrases are invloved in the film and if it is a main stream film or a low key film, this film is well known as it has been produced by Polygram fim entertainment.
Ideas for my opening of a thriller and how this has helped me,
*Use of font
*How the characters are evloved
*The way the frames are connected clearly and slowly moving into one another
*Based on a true story or a realistic situation

My 8 photos

These are my 8 shots for my thriller opening sequence
in the snow day i took my dog over the park and it gave me the idea to take pictures, i took 3 pictures of my dog to show that there may be a insight to using a dog in a thriller as she may have something to do with a murder or a fight that she has over come and she is the police force, also the hand in the snow could show there is no escape and the women is trying to hold on to something but as you cannot hold on to snow, i also took a shot of the dogs paw prints in the snow to show that the dog is either looking for something but also there is only two paw prints this could suggest that they cannot walk any further due to some kind of accident or collision.
the footprints in the snow and suggest running tracks or footsteps as a causal stroll through the park or also could suggest if something is running after someone or away from someone. the large gaps between, could suggest that they had to take bigger steps to get through the snow but could also suggest that they had to move fast through the snow to get away form someone. These images would be good to use in a thriller as they all have a different meanings to them and all show a good understanding of the thriller opening....

Sixth Sense Opening sequence

This is a good opening sequence as it brings the audience into the film and tells them about the little boy and what he can see, this gets the audience thinking why can he see these things and why does no one belive him, it is a good opening sequence for a thriller as it gets the audience on the edge of there seats and also seems realistic, this is a good influance on our own thriller opening as we wont the same effect on the audience.

The Task Brief

This is the brief-
To create the titles and opening of a new fiction film either thriller or romantic, to last a maximum of two minutes. To show different shot types and also which audience you will be showing it to.

What does a title sequence look like?

This is Memento this is an example of a title sequence, I have used a contact sheet to show the different bits in the opening sequence and how it attracts the adudiences eye, also the different shot types involved in the opening sequence, buy using a range of shots challenges the audiences minds and gets them thinking about what its going ot happen, this is what we are hoping to use in the opening of our thriller, by pulling in the audience in the opening sequence gets them thinking about what is going to happen throught the film and gets them questioning.

Analysis of Memento

In the opening of the scence it uses blue for the writting this suggests cold and a feel to the audience that Lenord is scared and confused to set the mood. the props used is a photo to reinforce the title of memory(memento). the opening sequence represents what the films is about it shows the picture fading like his memory, by the end of the film it relates back to the opening sequence and we ind out who the person in the picture was and how it happened.By showing the opening of the film backwards it makes you think why are they showing it backwards has he got a mental disability or is there something else invloved, also by seeing everthing happen backwards it gets the audience thinking was he a murder or is he a victim, why does he have these photos and who is invloved with the siutuation. The camera that the male character was holding shows and represents the title of the film. The word "Memento" has the meaning of an object or a item that reminds you of something or this something that is very special to you. At the start you cannot see the characters face this makes the audience unsure of what the character is doing.
